Jeevika Trust is delighted to invite you to our Jeevika Lecture 2016 taking place on Thursday 24th November 2016 at the Royal Geographical Society in Kensington, London’s premier lecture theatre.
Presented by the popular broadcaster and historian Michael Wood, whose track record for bringing alive the past has made him a household name, particularly in his epic series for BBC telling ‘The Story of India’ (2007) and ‘The Story of China’ (2016). For this illustrated lecture Michael will be drawing on his research and travels, and his passion for history, to explore characteristics of and contrasts between the world’s oldest surviving civilisation and the oldest surviving state. This lecture promises to be highly entertaining and informative.... not to be missed!
Doors open at 6:30pm and close at 9:30pm. Lecture starts at 7:00pm and will be followed by an opportunity for questions, finishing at 8:00pm.
Before and after the lecture there will be a cash bar, and as at previous Jeevika Lectures, an Indian Bazaar, organised by Serena Fass, offering a wide range of high quality Indian jewellery, artefacts, clothes and books.
More about Jeevika : Village India, with 1 in 8 of the world's population, has become increasingly marginalised as the rich grow richer. Jeevika Trust, a UK registered charity, has worked for 40 years with some of the poorest villages in India to help them build and sustain their individual, family and community livelihoods. Jeevika’s lectures are designed to raise both funds to support this work and awareness of the impact of its projects in India.
